Ripley Entertainment, the Small Attraction King of Halloween, Offers an October Full of Terror, Fun & Family Activities

ORLANDO, Fla. (Sept. 25, 2007) - Halloween began nearly 2,000 years ago when the Celtics donned costumes in an attempt to scare away the spirits.  This year, attractions within the Ripley Entertainment family are dressing up their attractions and are planning on not only scaring away the spirits - but possibly the fearful and timid as well!

It's all part of the legacy of the man who helped fuel America's interest in the bizarre: Robert Ripley. Many of the sites operated by Ripley Entertainment today are an eerie testament to people's continuing quest to discover the unusual, weird and often macabre side of human nature. Unlike most Halloween "haunted houses," the year-round Ripley's attractions feature live actors, and in October, horror film celebrity guests are set to make personal appearances.
From a masked demon chasing guests out of a haunted house with a chainsaw to exploring genuine paranormal activities in the oldest city in America, to a family friendly trick or treat trail at a Canadian indoor waterpark resort, Ripley Entertainment Inc. has a lot to offer in 2007!
Ripley's Haunted Adventures are multi-million dollar, high-tech, year round haunts featuring live actors.

  • Gatlinburg, Tenn.; Fright Nights throughout October. This year's theme is "Carnival of Screams." On Oct. 26 & 27, Bill Moseley, who played Otis Driftwood in the Rob Zombie classics "House of 1,000 Corpses," and "The Devil's Rejects" will be making a guest appearance.
  • Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Fright Nights on Friday and Saturday nights throughout October plus, Oct. 27-31. Doug Bradley, who portrayed Pinhead in the "Hellraiser" films will make an appearance on Oct. 26 & 27 during the Haunt's "Carnival of Screams" celebration.
  • San Antonio, Texas; Among the new scream makers this year are 3D effects and crazed clowns. Fright Nights are held Sept. 28-30; Oct. 5-7; and Oct. 12-31.
  • Pattaya, Thailand; Eight Thai celebrities were asked to design the coffin in which they would like to be buried. Those "Dream Coffins" will be on display from Oct. 16 through Oct. 31. On Halloween night, the celebrities will show up, help others dream up their coffin design and join in the party!
Nightmare at the Wax Museum - Inside the Louis Tussaud's Palace of Wax in Grand Prairie, Texas, the "Carnival of Screams" will be featured throughout October. The event, one of the original haunts in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex, is a highly-themed, interactive haunted adventure amidst spooky, famous and infamous wax figures. Runs every Friday and Saturday during October, plus Sunday the 28th and Halloween Night, the 31st. Gunnar Hansen, the original Leatherface from "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre," makes a special guest appearance on Oct. 26 & 27.

Ripley's Ghost Train Adventure - St. Augustine, Fla. (The oldest and most haunted city in the country, so say paranormals). Ripley's provides free cameras and will loan you an electromagnetic field device to assist in detecting unusual energy activity. Guests ride the black train around town and get off to visit specific areas known for paranormal activities.

Ghost Walking Tour - St. Augustine, Fla. Guests begin their journey at Warden's Castle, a well-known site of ghostly activity, which is also the home to Ripley's Believe It or Not! Odditorium. Expert guides on the hour-long tour take guests to the grounds of the Castillo de San Marcos, darkly rumored to be the home of restless spirits from the siege of 1702.

Mourning Adventure - St. Augustine, Fla. This morning ghost walk is a brand new tour for those who like to fill their ghost quotient before noon or who are afraid of the dark. Guests follow "the widow" around town as she enlightens them in the fine art of mourning.

Not So Scary kid-friendly Howl-O-Ween - Great Wolf Lodge, Niagara Falls, Can. (Owned by Ripley Entertainment) features scary storytelling, face painting, spooky bingo, and a haunted trick or treat trail inside the lodge. Special family packages which include the indoor waterpark and all Halloween activities are available from Oct. 19 - 31.

Midnight With The Monsters - Here's a unique, highly themed program only at Ripley's Haunted Adventure in Gatlinburg.  It's a supervised sleepover inside the haunt where guests are treated to a late night snack, horror make-up lessons, a special tour and breakfast. (Reservations required)
