Aquariums Overview

Ripley Entertainment entered the world-class aquarium business in 1997 when it opened the $40 million, state-of-the-art Ripley's Aquarium in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies® opened in 2000. Both operating aquariums are accredited by the prestigious Association of Zoos & Aquariums and are among the top 10 most visited aquariums in North America.

In a Ripley's aquarium, where entertainment, education and conservation combine to create a unique experience, guests have an opportunity to view some of the world's most beautiful, fascinating and dangerous aquatic life.

In one featured exhibit, visitors are surrounded on all sides by menacing 12-foot Sand Tiger sharks as they move through a huge shark tank in an acrylic tunnel on one of the world's longest glide paths.
