Old City businesses come together to make sure kids have a safe and fun Halloween

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (October 19, 2016) – Hurricane Matthew created serious hardships for thousands of St. John’s County families, but Ripley’s St. Augustine Attractions want to make sure local kids can still have a safe and fun Halloween.

Ripley’s and several other Old City businesses have partnered to put together a free evening of Halloween fun on Saturday, October 29.

“Some people don’t realize how dramatically children are impacted by tragedy in the aftermath of a storm like Matthew,” said Kim Kiff, Regional Manager for Ripley Entertainment. “We’re happy to be able to host this community-driven event to offer a fun night for children and families.”

The October 29th event will take place in the Ripley’s Believe It or Not! parking lot from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, followed by a showing of the movie Beetlejuice at 7:00 pm (bring lawn chairs for the movie).

There will be free popcorn and people handing out candy. Kids are encouraged to come in costumes; there will be a costume contest and prizes.

More than 20 businesses and organizations have joined together to provide entertainment, games, activities and – of course – candy! Organizers will try and fill the “Great Pumpkin” with donations for local families in need. People are encouraged to bring donations of gift cards, cash and even spare change. Donations are not required to participate in the event.
